Job Description / Role:

The Principal Instrumentation Designer directly impacts the effectiveness of their team and related team. They exchange ideas and information relating to Instrumentation Design effectively. The Principal Instrumentation Designer may work autonomously within established Instrumentation Design procedures and practices. They act as a lead, coordinating the work of others. The Principal Instrumentation Designer proposes improvements to processes and methods within the Instrumentation Design discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and develop arrangement and detail conceptual, FEED, studies, and detail design drawings.
  • Develop 3D models and ensure clash-free integration with other disciplines.
  • Ensure design deliverables are completed per project specifications and within schedules and budgets.
  • Direct small or medium Instrument Design teams as a Lead Designer.
  • Plan, organize, and direct all aspects of Discipline execution including scope, deliverables, and manpower.
  • Act as project-based Discipline point of contact with project teams, customers, and vendors.
  • Identify and manage changes to scope via the Change Management system.
  • Liaise with other disciplines to ensure defined interfaces and schedules are met.
  • Review vendor drawings and incorporate data into discipline documents.
  • Perform design verification through single discipline checks (SDC) and inter-discipline checks (IDC).
  • Guide and mentor less experienced Designers on procedures and standards.

Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and detailed design drafting.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore engineering practices and procedures.
  • Expertise in inter-discipline coordination and clash detection.
  • Capability in forecasting, planning, and resource management.
  • Competency in technical review of vendor data and specifications.
