Job Description / Role:
The Cleaner & Bus Nanny is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the school facilities while also performing duties related to the school transportation services. This role requires diligence, adherence to safety standards, and a commitment to providing a safe environment for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors.
- Dust and wipe down surfaces, furniture, windowsills, and fixtures.
- Empty and sanitize waste bins and replace liners.
- Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, and restroom fixtures.
- Replenish supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
- Sanitize high-touch surfaces regularly to prevent the spread of germs.
- Perform deep-cleaning tasks such as cleaning carpets, windows, and floor stripping and waxing.
- Handle spills and accidents promptly and safely.
- Use cleaning equipment properly and report malfunctions.
- Monitor and restock cleaning supplies.
- Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Maintain neat and organized storage areas.
- Report maintenance issues like leaks or broken fixtures.
- Communicate effectively with other staff members and follow daily task lists.
Experience Required: Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial work is preferred, especially in school, childcare, or similar environments.
Education Qualifications: No formal education required, though basic literacy and numeracy are helpful.
Skills Required:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to thoroughly clean and maintain school facilities.
- Time Management: Efficiently complete cleaning tasks within assigned timeframes.
- Knowledge of Cleaning Techniques: Understanding of disinfecting surfaces, cleaning various floor types, and handling spills.
- Use of Cleaning Equipment: Ability to safely operate vacuums, floor scrubbers, mops, and other cleaning tools.
- Health & Safety Awareness: Familiarity with proper handling and storage of cleaning chemicals and adherence to safety protocols.
- Reliability and Punctuality: Consistent attendance and dedication to maintaining a clean learning environment.
- Teamwork and Communication: Work cooperatively with school staff and other cleaning team members.
