Job Description / Role:
The eBRAIN Lab in the Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Junior Research Scientist position to work in the area of research and development (R&D) of next-generation Edge-AI and Embodied-AI Systems.
Key focus areas include tiny-LLMs, tiny-VLMs, tiny-VLAs, Agentic-AI systems, and Robust Generative AI targeting hallucination, safety, and security issues. Systems will be optimized for high performance and energy-efficiency to realize efficient Embodied/Edge-AI implementations in real-world applications such as autonomous systems, healthcare, and robotics.
The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary environment to drive projects on designing, implementing, optimizing, prototyping, and testing innovative software and hardware solutions. Responsibilities include IP generation, patenting, and participating in high-quality publications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct R&D on next-generation Edge-AI and Embodied-AI systems.
- Develop and optimize tiny-LLMs, tiny-VLMs, and Agentic-AI systems for high performance and energy efficiency.
- Build and test TRL-4/5 prototypes for real-world use-cases.
- Engage in full-system prototyping, IP generation, and patenting.
- Contribute to high-quality research publications.
- Collaborate with PhD-level scientists, research engineers, and industry partners.
Experience Required: Less than 5 years of experience post-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Solid experience in practical AI/ML system development, hands-on engineering work, and system-level optimizations.
Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Skills Required:
- Proficiency in Robotics, ML, AI, DNN, LLMs/VLMs, Multimodal LLMs, RAG, and Agentic frameworks.
- Strong experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensorflow.
- Competence in prototyping ML systems.
- Desirable: Knowledge of MLOps, robust/secure computing, hallucination mitigation, alignment, privacy-preserving ML, and ML security.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and writing skills.
