Job Description / Role:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Structural Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to supervise and inspect the structural works related to the Project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts inspections to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
- Performs inspection activities which may include demolition and construction of various structural elements such as reservoirs, lifting stations, landscaping structures, lagoons, swimming pools, substations, retaining walls, tunnels, bridges, etc.
- Maintains office files related to the project, quantity calculations, and writes daily diaries.
- Prepares daily reports and other documentation, as required by the contract.
- Verifies only approved materials are incorporated in the work.
- Performs labor compliance interviews and maintains as-built plans.
- Recognizes potential conflicts, issues, and problems; identifies possible solutions and advises supervisor.
- Collects, reviews, and files Certificate of Compliance, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), inspection tags, and other information relevant to the materials used.
- Reports on installed quantities to verify applications for payment and change order work.
- Coordinates work of subconsultants for surveying and material testing.
- Assists with the development of job safety practices and quality control procedures.
- Responds to the call backs in case of emergency at the project site.
- Documents nonconformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.
- May provide technical guidance to lower-level inspectors.
Experience Required: 5+ years of work experience in the capacity of structural inspector within the region.
Education Qualifications: Diploma or bachelor degree in civil engineering or related field, or equivalent.
Skills Required:
- Knowledge of public works contracts and construction related processes.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Effective math skills including knowledge of engineering calculations, graphs, and charts.
- Knowledge of basic computer applications including Microsoft Office, Project Management Software, and internet search engines.
- Effective diary and reporting skills.
- Understanding of scheduling, progress pay estimates, and extra work bills.
- Ability to recognize hazardous work conditions and take necessary action to mediate.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cohesively in a team and/or dynamic work environment.
- Authority Certification/approvals in related field and HSE training (desired).
- Construction safety training, including 10 hours of OSHA training (desired).
