Job Description / Role:
Parsons is looking for a highly experienced Sustainability Lead to provide strategic leadership, technical oversight, and sustainability management support for a major Airport, Infrastructure, and Airfield Development Project.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring sustainability strategies across the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with international sustainability standards, client objectives, environmental requirements, and airport development best practices.
The Sustainability Lead will support sustainable delivery across all project components including passenger terminals, runways, taxiways, cargo aprons, aircraft stands, external infrastructure, utilities, buildings, and airport operational facilities.
The role requires extensive experience in sustainability management, green building practices, environmental performance, carbon reduction strategies, energy efficiency, sustainable infrastructure, and stakeholder coordination within major airport or infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of the project sustainability strategy and sustainability management framework.
- Establish sustainability objectives, targets, KPIs, and performance monitoring requirements.
- Provide strategic sustainability guidance to project leadership, engineering teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Ensure sustainability objectives are integrated into design, procurement, construction, and operational phases.
- Support the Delivery Partner in achieving project sustainability commitments and environmental goals.
- Review project strategies related to energy efficiency, carbon reduction, water conservation, sustainable materials, waste management, and climate resilience.
- Manage implementation of green building rating systems including LEED, BREEAM, Envision, and Estidama.
- Develop and monitor carbon management strategies and water efficiency programs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor contractor compliance with sustainability requirements during construction and conduct audits.
- Develop sustainability reports, dashboards, and maintain communication with project stakeholders.
Experience Required: Minimum 15 years of experience in sustainability management, environmental engineering, or sustainable infrastructure delivery, with proven experience supporting major airport developments, aviation infrastructure projects, transportation programs, or large-scale infrastructure developments.
Education Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline. Master’s Degree in Sustainability, Environmental Management, or related field is preferred.
Skills Required:
- Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Knowledge of carbon management, energy efficiency, renewable energy integration, water conservation, waste management, climate resilience, and sustainable materials.
- Understanding of airport sustainability requirements and operational constraints.
- Experience with green building rating systems like LEED, BREEAM, Envision, or equivalent.
- Professional sustainability certification such as LEED AP, BREEAM Assessor, Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), or WELL Accredited Pro is highly desired.
